WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a very normal and natural altered
state of conciousness during which you are actually more aware of what is going on around you than you would be aware of ordinarily. We
have all spontaneously experienced this altered state of mind many times ie. day dreaming, going into 'auto pilot'
when driving, watching TV, reading a book and so on.
WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS FEEL LIKE?
Hypnosis is very relaxing and pleasant. You remain
in control at all times. Your subconscious mind hears everything and you can have a conversation with your therapist/hypnotist
if you wanted to. Many clients comment on how relaxing it is, how refreshed they feel afterwards and how life changing
it can be for some of them.
CAN ANYONE BE HYPNOTISED?
Everyone can be hypnotised as long as they want to be - the more intelligent you
are, the easier it is to be hypnotised because all hypnosis is 'self hypnosis' which means that if you want to be
hypnotised then you will. The only thing to prevent you from being hypnotised is if you don't want to be or fear of being
hypnotised.
IS HYPNOSIS MIND CONTROL?
There is no
question of being controlled, manipulated or even induced into a hypnotic state against your will. In hypnosis all of your
senses function far more effectively than normal, for instance, whilst in hypnosis you may be able to hear more background
noises - noises that you would normally dismiss... It is not a time or place where you will blurt out any secrets, nor will
you be 'asleep'. These are all demonstrations of total misconceptions of what hypnosis really is. You will always
remain in complete control, you must be 100% co-operative in order to be hypnotised and you can choose to accept or reject
any suggestions given to you. While in hypnosis you cannot be made to do anything that is against your moral or ethical codes
that you have in your normal waking state.
WHAT ABOUT STAGE HYPNOSIS?
Stage hypnosis is a show and the people who volunteer
are agreeing to perform acts to entertain the audience - they are giving their permission to be part of the acts, but again,
they are still in full control and able to reject a suggestion given to them if they choose. The volunteers are very
carefully selected and screened before the stage demonstration begins.
CAN I GET 'STUCK' IN HYPNOSIS?
NO!! It is absolutely
impossible for anyone to get 'stuck' in hypnosis. Everyone comes out of hypnosis, the most common and effective way
is being counted out. Should any emergency arise during the session, you can instantly emerge yourself out of hypnosis.
HOW
DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
'Suggestion' is what makes us the person that we are from the day we are
born to the way we are today! Our mind is open to receiving suggestions and it is whilst under hypnosis that we can communicate
with the subconscious part of our mind. Suggestion can be very powerful even in a none therapeutic way - for instance tell
a person that they are blushing when they are not, and within moments they will start to go red! Start to scratch an 'itch'
when looking at someone and they will start to scratch too!
